Sir Keir Starmer is expected to urge allies to supply Ukraine with more extended-range weaponry to strike enemy locations during talks in the UK capital on the upcoming Friday.

Sir Keir plans to receive Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky alongside the so-called "coalition of the willing", including more than 20 of Ukraine's allies who have agreed to grant Ukraine defense assurances once a ceasefire is negotiated.

The Ukrainian leader has been urging for weeks for additional long-range weapons from Western nations, a step that Moscow has warned would escalate the war.

President Zelensky is coming from Belgium, where he held talks with European representatives on Thursday requesting financial support.

"The single figure participating in current hostilities who declines to stop the conflict is the Russian leader," the Prime Minister said.

The Prime Minister will also reveal that a hundred additional air defense systems will be delivered to Ukrainian forces sooner than scheduled, as specified in a substantial financial arrangement reached between the UK and the Ukrainian government in last spring.

Global Backing

The Ukrainian president travels off the back of important international achievements in recent days: Washington's action to finally apply further sanctions against Moscow, and EU nations agreeing to finance Ukraine's financial gap.

Sir Keir is hoping to sustain the momentum by intensifying the pressure on the Kremlin to discuss an end to the war.

Sir Keir will urge delegates to ramp up the supply of advanced missile technology following a successful strike on an industrial facility in the Bryansk region, Russia, using UK-provided Storm Shadow missiles.

"Additionally, his depraved strikes on young children in a preschool in recent days demonstrate that crystal clear," he continued.

Two children were part of at least seven fatally wounded in multiple enemy assaults on Ukrainian territory, which targeted a preschool facility in the second biggest city Kharkiv.

Financial Discussions

The Prime Minister will confer with Western allies on methods to withdraw Russia's petroleum resources off the global market.

Delegates will also discuss employing frozen Russian assets to supply Ukraine with economic assistance, while the initiative faced a lack of political consensus and regulatory obstacles at the EU conference on yesterday.

European nations stopped short of consenting to a proposal to use approximately €140 billion in frozen Russian assets to monetarily assist the Ukrainian economy.

Nevertheless, the leaders decided to assist with the country's "economic requirements" for the coming 24 months.

United States also announced sanctions on Wednesday against Moscow's two largest energy corporations, the state-owned company and Lukoil Corporation, as part of efforts to add financial pressure on the Kremlin to enter ceasefire negotiations.

Moscow initiated its major offensive of the country in early 2022. It currently holds about 20% of Ukrainian territory, including the southern region the Russian government seized in 2014.
